It was a delightful surprise to hear from Danielle Gauthier McCarthy who knew Mimi through the time they spent together studying sculpture under Peter Wood in the Clay Studio of the Essex Art Center .

Danielle says:  "I really enjoyed our time together. I was so impressed by her beautiful sculptures! She mentioned having a studio for paintings near by too. I wished I asked her to come by her studio or her home in Andover as well. I would have loved to see her paintings as I’m mostly a painter myself. She was rather private about herself. When I mentioned how beautiful her sculptures were she would sometimes make a simple gesture of raising her shoulders in response. I really wished we connected more but she was rather a private person...What a pleasant person she was! i really miss her!"

Included are some pictures of Mimi at work, contributed by Peter Wood. They show Mary working on some relief panels for Family Services, in Lawrence, MA  and pictures of her with Peter Wood. Those of us who knew Mimi will immediately recognize the theme of families and children.
